Lisa Ruth Tunstall-German brings over 20 years of diverse experience in both private and governmental roles as a dedicated social worker. Her career has spanned various responsibilities, from conducting assessments and making recommendations in the best interest of clients to building strong relationships with children and families. Lisa has a longstanding commitment to helping families and children thrive, including being a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for more than twelve years. Her deep understanding of social work is paired with her experience in knowledge management, where she discovered, structured, and shared valuable information across various governmental departments.
In addition to her social work, Lisa has served in various capacities within the U.S. government, including her roles as a Knowledge Management Specialist and Communications Specialist. She worked at several military bases and the Pentagon, where she led projects related to technology transfer and communications. Lisa was responsible for overseeing the migration of computer systems, chairing weekly meetings to ensure project timelines were met, and managing the $1.5M Technology Transfer budget. Her ability to analyze and develop partnerships with national laboratories and other stakeholders contributed significantly to the energy-efficient and pollution prevention technologies sectors.
Since her retirement in 2012, Lisa has remained active in community service, supporting programs such as the Fort Sam Houston Fisher House and various church ministries. She is an engaged member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she co-chairs the Youth Leadership Institute and leads initiatives to support veterans and students in the San Marcos community. Lisa also serves on her neighborhood HOA community board, where she continues her passion for helping others. Her dedication to service, both in her career and personal life, reflects her lifelong commitment to making a positive impact.
