Our Hair-A-Thon event occurs twice a year at the beginning of each school semester for CPS children to receive hair and skin care services, in addition to education for continued self-care.  The goal is to provide an equal opportunity to CPS children to physically present themselves well, as they are often in transition or lacking resources to do so for themselves.

This is also an opportunity for foster children to learn best practices for caring for ethnic hair.  For any child or teen, physical appearance is often something children and teens struggle with, aside from their current trauma experienced; to address this obstacle the Board coordinates 2 of these events per year.
